What the hell is going on with link trading in Scarlett/Violet?

I've been trying to complete the Pokedex and I'm having a fucking miserable time. Here are some highlights of my awful experience:
I hatched some fuecoco and I've been trying to trade them to get the other two starters. I have not successfully made a single starter trade and it's been five days. The three most common experiences I've had are:
- I offer my fuecoco, they offer a quaxly or sprigattito, I accept the trade, they decline the trade and quit.
- I offer my fuecoco and they offer, in rapid succession, several shinies, and then they quit the trade.
- I offer my fuecoco. They wait for an uncomfortably long time, and then quit the trade.
In other news, I've caught and traded EIGHT SEPARATE HAUNTERS and have never had the Gengar offered back. What the fuck is going on? How the hell am I supposed to complete the Pokedex if it keeps going on like this?

If you're doing trade evolutions you should be trading haunter for haunter,etc. That way there's no issues.
But link trading with randoms has always been a dong show. You want to find people online to help you.

How did you learn everything you know about trading?

I am a little confused on how to learn day trading. I need to learn it so that i can get independent from my parents. Please teach me or tell me how am I supposed to learn EVERYTHING about trading please.
Top Comment: A few points to think about: Learning about trading and becoming a consistently profitable trader are two very different things. I'd go as far as to say that they have nothing in common: learning the theory is easy even though it's completely self-directed. The resources to do it are cheap: you don't need to buy a course, a few good books will do, then spend time around other traders. Twitter is the best place for that because of the high number of professionals. Don't get fooled by anyone on Youtube showing you a car, a boat or a jet... it's all made-up and has nothing to do with reality, no exceptions. If you're putting pressure on yourself it's going to become a lot harder. Having to learn trading in order to move out of your parent's house, to avoid getting a "real job" or anything like this is stacking the odds against you. It feeds into the fear of missing out part, leads to excessive risk taking and sets you up for failure.
